Week 3: Looking Forward

What is something you are looking forward to in 2023?  What is something you are worried about?  If you do find yourself struggling, who will you look to for support?  When you are thriving, who will you look to celebrate with?

*Food for thought: hopes and concerns are often things that come into our mind with the arrival of a new year.  The goal of this post is to share those thoughts and consider the people you trust and would be able to share those experiences with--both positive and negative.  The strength of solidarity and support can be so powerful.*

Thank you for your time & willingness to share your thoughts! 😊

  1. I'm really looking forward to being on the other side of didactics. The first 2 years of med school have felt so grueling, and I don't feel like I'm doing much to help people, so I'm excited to be on the wards and putting some of my knowledge to use. This year, I've taken on a scholar position at my school, and while I've learned so much and had many opportunities to practice my teaching capabilities, I am ready to be in the hospital and apply my knowledge.

Because I took this year, most of my med school friends have moved away, and I definitely don't have the same level of support that I once did. That being said, my wife is an unending fountain of support, and I'm really grateful to have her to lean on when things get rough. But she's also my favorite one to celebrate with when things are good.

Week 5: Free Write

Thank you so much for going through the process of reflecting and sharing your journey with us. We want to create one last space for you to write about whatever you want. Whether it is a reflection on what you have learned about yourself and others so far or a rant about how difficult the past few weeks have been, feel free to share your thoughts.  *Food for thought: if you can not think about what to write, use this post to get anything off your chest and connect with other medical students. Is there a barrier you had to overcome to get where you are today? What events in your life have inspired you the most? If you had to teach a class on one skill, what would it be?*  Finally, thank you so much for taking the time to reflect with us. We hope this platform provided you with a space to learn more about yourself and see that you are not alone in this journey. If you found these reflections to be helpful, please continue to journal/blog/vlog on your own so you can have a medium to relea

Week 4: You are Enough

Who do you compare yourself with? How does that make you feel? How are other people's opinions holding you back? What are steps you can take to stop comparing and start celebrating yourself instead? *Food for thought: medical school can be highly competitive and it can be easy to get lost in test score averages and class ranks. This post is meant to help you find ways to remember that you have so much to offer to the world and that a number does not define you.*  Thank you so much for being vulnerable with us. 💕
