A Little Introduction...

This blog specifically is a wellness initiative on behalf of COSGP's Wellness Committee for the month of January 2023--Happy New Year friends!  We wanted to create a safe space for medical school students to share their thoughts, worries, concerns, successes, hopes, and so forth.  We chose to do so via a blog with the goal of commiserating over shared experiences or empathizing with other students' unique experiences. How does this blog work? Each Monday for the month of January, there will be a new published post with a journal prompt, for which anyone can submit a response. There will be 5 posts in total. All the prompts will encourage reflection and introspection! We wanted to emphasize that this is a SAFE space, so if you choose to partake in the weekly journal entries, there will be an option to post anonymously 😊.

We can only hope that this will act as some form of an outlet to you all.  Always remember that the medical school journey is an arduous journey and you are doing an incredible job!

Sincerely,

COSGP Wellness Committee 💖

Week 5: Free Write

Thank you so much for going through the process of reflecting and sharing your journey with us. We want to create one last space for you to write about whatever you want. Whether it is a reflection on what you have learned about yourself and others so far or a rant about how difficult the past few weeks have been, feel free to share your thoughts.  *Food for thought: if you can not think about what to write, use this post to get anything off your chest and connect with other medical students. Is there a barrier you had to overcome to get where you are today? What events in your life have inspired you the most? If you had to teach a class on one skill, what would it be?*  Finally, thank you so much for taking the time to reflect with us. We hope this platform provided you with a space to learn more about yourself and see that you are not alone in this journey. If you found these reflections to be helpful, please continue to journal/blog/vlog on your own so you can have a medium...

Week 4: You are Enough

Who do you compare yourself with? How does that make you feel? How are other people's opinions holding you back? What are steps you can take to stop comparing and start celebrating yourself instead? *Food for thought: medical school can be highly competitive and it can be easy to get lost in test score averages and class ranks. This post is meant to help you find ways to remember that you have so much to offer to the world and that a number does not define you.*  Thank you so much for being vulnerable with us. 💕

Week 3: Looking Forward

What is something you are looking forward to in 2023?  What is something you are worried about?  If you do find yourself struggling, who will you look to for support?  When you are thriving, who will you look to celebrate with? *Food for thought: hopes and concerns are often things that come into our mind with the arrival of a new year.  The goal of this post is to share those thoughts and consider the people you trust and would be able to share those experiences with--both positive and negative.  The strength of solidarity and support can be so powerful.* Thank you for your time & willingness to share your thoughts! 😊
